Dex Fest is a music and art festival dedicated to honoring the spirit and legacy of the late dexter romweber.
Defined by the restless stir of artists whose live performance and visionary imprint liken vestige of Dex's genre-defying ingenuity,
the stages of Dex Fest harken impassioned echoes of the past alongside fresh faces ringing out loud new waveforms,
showcasing fiery acts carving their own unique musical identities that weave across a stimulating spectrum and eclectic tapestry of
garage, roots- and blues-rock, alt-country, folk, and indie-alternative tinged sounds.
Humbly presented by a coalition of his friends and loved ones, the festival was born as a celebration of life
and continues to serve as a living memorial, highlighting Dexter's enduring cultural impact
and musical influence on artists, both local and beyond.
Hosted in the area he called home, the festival is held in some of
central North Carolina's most iconic music venues in Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
Honoring Dex’s memory, the festival proudly advocates for independent musicians in all stages of life and career,
championing the value and zeal of original music alongside the life-altering, reverberating power and influence of live performance,
all in hopeful resistance to combat the conditions of an ever-challenging landscape musicians face
in pursuit of (and bleeding love for) their craft.
